Could a allergy do this? > How can one know the difference between an infection or allergy? - ---- An infection is an overgrowth of bacteria. An allergy is a sensitivity to a substance. Continued sensitivity and irritation can cause an overgrowth of bacteria (in other words: an infection can be caused by an allergy.) Infections are usually caused by opportunistic bacteria of one sort or another taking advantage of stress or suppressed immune response etc. An "inhaled irritant" can be smoke, hair spray, any chemicals, paint fumes, perfumes, pesticides, too much dust, pollen...... Testing has shown that there is no bacteria present, so it sounds like an allergy. Hope this helps.... The problem with pet stores is birds are different critters. Most people never had birds or if they did 'keets or canarys, and as such don't know how to take care of them. 20 years ago, every one thought birds only ate seed. Since this is what they grew up with, and people are creatures of habit. Perhaps, we might develope a publication explaining the care of birds.
