As an apartment dweller who was just forced to give up my 4 year old B&G - I took him home @ 10 weeks, weaned him, he was potty trained, but I was in a situation where it was the bird or taking care of my ungrateful 14 year old son - I recommend looking at the Minis. I have a Hahns that I got at the same time as I did my B&G. He is in a Hoie (sp?) cockatiel cage with lots of room. He is also potty-trained, laughs, and is totally delightful. The big guys are wonderful but there are advantages to the small ones. (They don't scream as loudly, either!) To anyone on this list: I don't know if it's cool to talk about a bird that's for sale, but I do some work for Laurella Desborough, President of AFA, and she has an absolutely wonderful 7 month old Severe for sale. She's been too busy doing things like going before Congress fighting for our right to keep birds in breeding situations & as pets to actively sell him. This guy has the most potential for learning tricks that I've ever seen in a baby. He rolls over on his back, will fly to you, talks; he's just really special & even though she has some other birds, I have a thing about wanting to get this one in a good home. The company is willing to try to acommodate(sp?) your needs and wishes, and they are comparable in price to most of the other cages out there. They are easy to clean with the roller paper, and my birds just love the room. 8x3x6 1/2 > > ------------------------------ From: Christina Sabattini Date: Wed, 6 Nov 1996 11:55:41 -0800 (PST) Subject: Re: breeding cages On Tue, 5 Nov 1996 BIRDS4FUN@aol.com wrote: > The fiberglass dog house? They are well built, well thought out cages. They have the removable grate on the bottom so it is easy to clean. My first two cages were bought a few years ago, before they started putting in the removable grate. I still love them, they are a great cage for the price. For me the decision was made easier because I live in Oregon and we have a local distributor for California cages, so there wasn't a long wait and I had an excellent choice of colors and styles at an excellent price. I do not doubt for a second that Brads cages are among the best out there. For me it was a matter of matching what I already had and the convenience that a local distributor offered. California cages do not break down, if you need this feature, then a custom made cage by Brad would be the most obvious choice. There is no question that if I was buying my first cage and I was going to have to ship anyway, I'd look seriously at Brad's cages. Stainless steele would be nice.
