We all feel passionately about our birds and sometimes I forget to use the spell checker, sometimes I just can't type and sometimes I just don't care. However if you make people feel like your going to critique their every work w/ a red felt tip pen some people will not ask the questions/share the knowledge and who pays for that, the birds. my 2 cents, write what u want, how u want to write it, it's communication and i'll either figure it out or ask for further clarification. >Tekoa Feeder wrote: >> >> Barb, >>[SNIP] >> I want YOU to learn how to use "apostrophe s" properly. >> Please. They are also a great joy to own also. If we can help with any questions please feel free to e-mail us any time. We are on line every day unless are system crashes > which it has done a few times. They are great to spend time with to teach them to talk. All of our birds talk except our pareket. When I'm alone I spend hours talking with them. And when you least expect them to say something that is when it pops right out of there mouth. Our macaw is one of five birds. We also have a mulucan cockatoo, an african grey, a quaker parrot and a paraket. Our african grey is our biggest talker,an has been since he was 8months old.We have a very active home and very noisey,so they do have a lot to listen to and repeat.I always leave a t.v. or radio on when were not home. Al ------------------------------ From: Klwoods@pflash.com Date: 1 Dec 1996 18:43:08 CST Subject: feather plucking Hello, I am new to the list and have a 1 year old blue & gold macaw. Romi is a doll and talks to me each time I enter the room. "Hello, Mama," is music to my ears. :) Lately, he has begun to chew his feathers. His once normal beautiful tail feathers are all but chewed off and the others on his back are just as bad. He leaves the front alone and also chews his wing feathers. Nothing has changed, his diet is great with sprouts, fruits, vegetables, a couple of peanuts, parsley, corn on the cob, etc. He gets love and attention. He is next to another bird, an African grey female. He has always been beside her and they like each other. Could he be old enough at one to respond to her seasons? For the life of me I can't figure out why he is doing this. He was so beautiful and now looks like a frowsy mess. I would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.
