Dear Sandi,

First of all we would thank you for your help that you offer to the N.O.P. and the comming action from the Sonny Days Bird Toys. The program you started named "Toys for Holland" shows that you must have a great love and respect for the parrots.

The 'Dutch parrot care and reception centre can use all the help there is. Giving information about parrots to future owners is one of the most important intentions. New owners don't realise that a parrot is a friend for 50 to 75 years. They don't now that only one of ten parrots can speak proper or that parrots needs a lot of care. Besides of the information we take care of parrots which don't have a home anymore because their bosses are advanced in years, the parrots are confiscate by the custom-house, are 'insane' or sick, theire bosses don't wanted to take care anymore, etc. etc.

All these parrots can live together in our care and reception centre. In this centre which is 80.000 square metres big (262.400 square feet), there

80 aviaries 2 x 2 x 1 + night accomodation
1 75 x 6 x 40
4 50 x 4 x 6
5 8 x 3 x 6
8 4 x 3 x 2
16 4 x 2 x 4 + night accomodation

1 tropical centre of 550 square metres specific for Lori’s

8 quarantine buildings

1 special winter-resort for:
13 sort Ara
15 sort Cockatoo
27 sort Amazona and:
many other sorts from Africa, Asia, Indonesia, etc. etc.

Even an reptile and turtle building is present.

Every month, new aviaries are build.

All the parrots we receive get a microchip under there skin so that we can registrate them proper. If a bird pass away, there will be a dissection to search for the reason. We can learn from these parrots. In a brandnew computer program special written for us, all the birds are registrated with theire complete history, movings from one to the other aviary, the morbid symptom etc. etc.

We learned already a lot of the behaviour and the life from the parrots. Even a special bird-doctor is in the centre.

Together with 30 volunteers we run the park. Of course this costs a lot of money. All the help, materials, gifts and donations are more than welcome!
